LOMBARD TOTEMIC ANIMALS
The Lombard imagination – a fascinating look at traditional practices and symbolic animal burials in three sites: Cividale del Friuli, Povegliano Veronese and Spilamberto.

THE WARRIOR IDEAL
Two warrior figures and the grave goods of two generations compared in Rome and Brescia – a journey through cultural differences, social identities and military organization.

MANUAL INTELLIGENCE
Craft production and working methods in the Lombard era. The integration of Roman-Byzantine traditions with Lombard culture in an exchange between Rome and Spoleto.

FLAVIA SEBRIO
Lombard Castelseprio, military garrison and seat of power. Jewels and coins of the Lombard nobility on display in Milan and Castelseprio demonstrate the wealthy castrum's important role.

THE INTENTIONAL RE-USE
Deliberate re-use of old worked stone in the Lombard era. The recovery of Late Antique architectural tastes in the church at Cappello on the Clitunno and that of San Salvatore in Spoleto.

SIMPLY WRITING
Evidence of communication methods. The Christian message in symbolic and visual representations; Beneventan scripts and chapter codices from the 7th to 14th centuries.

WEAPONS AND POWER
Instruments and signs of the cult of St Michael. Understanding and dialogue between grave goods from the Collegno cemetery and copies of inscriptions from the Monte Sant'Angelo sanctuary.
